"The Secret Scripture" Film Gets Trio Of Actors

Jack Reynor, Eric Bana, and Theo James are in talks to join the film adaptation of author Sebastian Barry's award-wining novel "The Secret Scripture" says Variety.

The Ireland-centric story concerns a 100-year old Presbyterian woman who has been in a mental hospital since World War II. Mara (replacing Jessica Chastain) and Vanessa Redgrave will play older and younger versions of the woman. Jeremy Irons also stars.

Bana will play a rebellious doctor responsible for reviewing her case. James will play the Catholic priest, Reynor plays a British soldier and Mara’s love interest.

Jim Sheridan replaces Thaddeus O'Sullivan ("Into the Storm" "The Heart of Me") at the helm of the picture using an adapted script from .

Noel Pearson will produce the film.

Production begins in September.
