Peter Sohn Charts "The Good Dinosaur"

First-time feature director Peter Sohn has officially been announced as the director of  Pixar Animation Studios and Disney's 2015 release "The Good Dinosaur".

Sohn, an artist at the studio, unofficially took over the film a few months after the original director Bob Peterson was removed from the project for creative concerns. Folks like John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich, Mark Andrews, and Sohn oversaw the transition once Peterson got the boot. Sohn is going solo after the release date was pushed back

The film puts forth that that the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs actually missed the planet, as a result they continue to evolve.

John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris and Judy Greer will all lend their voices to the work, while Lucas Neff will voice the lead character of an Apatosaurus named Arlo.

The film is a "buddy comedy about a teenage dinosaur and a human boy".

Sohn has nixed some of Peterson's ideas and added new elements, such as nature being the film's antagonist. Sohn tells The Los Angeles Times: "The heart of the story remains the same. It's always been about this young dinosaur growing up. But the world itself has changed a lot. Nature has become a character."

"The Good Dinosaur" is slated to open this time next year.
