Jean-Marc Vallée ("Dallas Buyers Club","Wild") is in talks to direct Janis Joplin biopic called "Get It While You Can" says Variety.
As a hard-living singer, Joplin had numerous rock classics and became
one of the faces of 1960's counterculture. She died of a heroin
overdose in 1970.
Amy Adams has been attached to play the late singer for several years--Vallee replaces Lee Daniels at the helm.
Vallee is bringing along his "Buyers Club" screenwriters Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack to redraft Ron Terry and wife Teresa Kounin Terry's initial script.
Robert Katz will produce the film.
Production begins next Summer in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
