"Dragonriders of Pern" Gets A Writer

Warner Bros. has hired author and screenwriter Sarah Cornwell to pen the film adaptation of "Dragonflight" the first book in author Anne McCaffrey's epic fantasy novel series  "Dragonriders of Pern" says Heat Vision.

Set on the planet Pern, the story follows a young daughter within a ruling family who is the only one to escape death at the hands of a cruel usurper named Fax. To survive, she disguises herself as a lowly servant in the house of the new ruler. Soon her telepathic abilities prove to be far stronger than she believed, and she sets out on a journey that will restore the ancient tradition of dragon-riding and uncover the secret history of the planet.

David Hayter drafted a script for an earlier incarnation back in 2011 when Copperheart Entertainment, Dark Hero Studios and Angry Films had the rights.

WB owns the screen rights to the entire twenty-two novels in the saga
