HitFix reports that teenage actor Logan Lerman, star of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, is now the "frontrunner" to play the new Peter Parker for director Marc Webb in the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot
The site's production source claims "Lerman is 'almost 100% locked' but not in contract negotiations for the role yet."
Lerman acknowledged in February that he was in the running to replace the big screen's previous wall-crawler, Tobey Maguire.
Other rumored contenders for the role are Anton Yelchin, Jesse Eisenberg, Patrick Fugit and Johnny Simmons.
Update:Once again.Sony Pictures has issued an official denial and Deadline reports that "insiders at Sony... were very definitive in denying the story, and were sure that Lerman was 100% not going to be Spidey and that he is not on the list of candidates being seriously considered."
HitFix says it's standing by its source and story.
Stay Tuned...
The next Spider-Man film is due in theaters by 2012
