Game Winning

Gary Ross is now in the lead to direct the thriller "Hunger Games" says Deadline

Ross, as well as Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road), Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend), David Slade , Andrew Adamson (Shrek), Susanna White (Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang) and newcomer Rupert Sanders were all on the list for the job of calling action on the franchise starter 10 days ago

The project is based on author Suzanne Collins novel series which has a major following across all ages and is said to potentially be the 'next Twilight'. The first in a planned trilogy, the story involves a young love triangle playing out against a dystopian future where North America has been divided into twelve oppressed districts, each of which is forced to send tribute in the form of a boy and a girl to compete in a televised battle to the death once a year.

Collins adapted her own book which Billy Ray (Breach, State of Play) took over, re-written and recently handed in.
