The story is set against the backdrop of modern day Salem, Massachusetts where 300-year-old witches haunt the town.
The film title originates from the song track of the same name featured on Zombie's Educated Horses album.
Zombie had originally intended to create a "Lords of Salem" band or comic book with "30 Days of Night" creator Steve Niles but it never happened.
"Paranormal Activity" team Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Oren Peli will produce.
