Joaquin Phoenix is reported to be the top choice to play former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover's reputed paramour and protégé, Clyde Tolson in the biopic "Hoover" says Vulture.
Dustin Lance Black's script will follow the career of Hoover from his founding of the F.B.I. in 1935 where he remained as director until his death in 1972. As the associate director of the FBI from 1947 to 1972, Tolson was in daily close contact with Hoover both in and out of the office.
Neither man admitted to being gay, Hoover famously intimidated those who questioned his sexual preference, nevertheless Hoover left his entire estate and life insurance payout to Tolson upon his death.
Leonardo DiCaprio's deal to play Hoover is not yet locked down it's expected the offer to Phoenix will go out immediately.
Clint Eastwood will direct Brian Grazer will produce the film
