Dolphin Dad

Kris Kristofferson is joining the cast of the 3-D inspirational pic A Dolphin's Tale says Screen Daily.

The project is inspired by the true story of Winter the Dolphin who was rescued off the Florida coast. The film will follow a boy who befriends an injured dolphin who lost her tail in a crab trap.

The boy motivates everyone around him to help save the dolphin by creating a prosthetic appendage to replace its tail, and the mammal's strong survival instincts become an inspiration to people with special needs.

Kristofferson is going to play the father of Harry Connick Jr's character, a single father who runs the aquarium where the dolphin is located

Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd also star.

Charles Martin Smith (Air Bud) will direct from a script by Karen Janszen.

Filming is currently under way in Clearwater, Florida.
