Fassbender Recites Assassin's Creed

Michael Fassbender will both star in and produce a film adaptation of Ubisoft's hit video game series "Assassin's Creed" reports Heat Vision.

Fassbender will play Desmond Miles, a bartender who is a descendant of several lines of prominent assassins. The story hops between present day and ancient times as Miles battles the Knights Templar.

Four games in the series have been produced thus far and have sold 30 million units. The first game was set in the Middle East during the time of The Crusades, the second through fourth games during the Italian Renaissance with the action taking place around various Italian cities and in Ottoman-era Constantinople. The upcoming "Assassin's Creed® III" is set during The American Revolutionary War.

No director or distributor is attached yet. Sony Pictures was previously attached to produce the film but that may no longer is the case.

A 2014 release date is still planned.
