Goddard Last Ditch On "Z" Script

"The Cabin in the Woods " scribe Drew Goddard will pen a new ending on the troubled zombie movie "World War Z" reports Deadline.

Recently Goddard's fellow Lost buddy Damon Lindelof was said to be writing it--reports that were only partially correct. Turns out Lindelof oulined the new ending but didn't have time to script it - as a result Goddard took over.

The premise is based on the Max Brooks' created comic book Set a decade after a virus has turned much of the planet's population into zombies, the story follows a journalist interviewing subjects from around the world about their experiences during the 'zombie war'.The book fuses elements of political satire, war and survival horror as it explores how various nations, governments and individuals respond to the crisis.

The comic novel is actually an anthology, each chapter is essentially an interview of a different subject in a different part of the world, allowing each chapter to focus on how people and nations reacted to the crisis before, during and after.

Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, star of the hit TV series The Killing, is gonna play Karin Lane, the wife of Pitt, Anthony Mackie, James Badge Dale also star with Elyes Gabel who will play a character named Fassbach and Bryan Cranston make up the cast list.

Though already completed under director Marc Forster the film is slated to undergo several weeks of reshoots in September or October - extra filming that saw the film's release date pushed back by six months from this December to next June.

Further writers may also have a go at the troubled project. No date has been set for the reshoots to paste on the new ending, but Forster is expected to be involved.
