Shadyac Helms "The Intouchables" Redux

Tom Shadyac ("Liar Liar," "Evan Almighty") is in talks to helm a remake of the French-language international hit "The Intouchables" says Deadline.


The story deals with a wealthy French aristocrat who, after being paralyzed in a hang-gliding accident, hires a young Senegalese man from the projects to be his caretaker (Omar Sy).

Paul Feig is writing the adapted script, with Colin Firth circling to star in the François Cluzet role from the original. Final casting is not yet locked down at this point

The original grossed a staggering $416 million in globallly, but only $10 million in the United States.  The Weinstein Company won the remake rights when they picked up the original to distribute.
