South African filmmaker Darrell Roodt is set to helm the indie biopic "Robeson" says Variety.
"Homeland" star David Harewood (pictured) is attached to play singer and actor Paul Robeson--whose political activism brought him to the attention of Senator Joseph McCarthy, leading to the revocation of his passport for eight years despite his contributions as an entertainer to the Allied forces in World War II.
Louis Gossett Jr. co-stars as W. E. B. Du Bois
Richard Akel and Terry Bisson wrote the script.
Greg Carter will produce the film.
Production kicks off this Summer.
