Hamill On His Possible Return To "Star Wars"...

It's looking more and more likely that we will see some old friends return to the "Star Wars" universe for "Star Wars: Episode VII" at Disney/Lucasfilm...

Oscar winner Michael Arndt ("Toy Story 3," "Little Miss Sunshine") is writing the script for the “Star Wars: Episode VII that J.J. Abrams directs The script draft is said to include Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo in their later years, which may mean those early rumours of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher being interested in returning could be true. No official  word yet if Mark Hamill could be tempted to return as Luke Skywalker... And Might Vader Return?

Writers Lawrence Kasdan ("The Empire Strikes Back," "Raiders of the Lost Ark") and Simon Kinberg ("Sherlock Holmes," "X-Men: Days of Future Past") have reportedly closed deals to pen the final two instalments of the new "Star Wars" trilogy. Kasdan and Kinberg are also indeed developing stand alone SW features.

Kasdan and Kinberg would also join the projects as producers with Kathleen Kennedy.

"They're talking to us," Hamill told  Entertainment Tonight. "George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts; they would write us out. I can tell you right away that we haven't signed any contracts. We're in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm. Both have had meetings set that were postponed -- on their end, not mine. They're more busy than I am."

Hamill says he has no idea of what the films will be about but he wants all of his surviving co-stars to be involved.  He also thinks his character's will follow in the footsteps of his mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, as played by the late Alec Guinness in the original trilogy.

"I'm assuming, because I haven't talked to the writers, that these movies would be about our offspring -- like my character would be sort of in the Obi-Wan range [as] an influential character. … When I found out [while making the original trilogy] that ultimate good news/bad news joke – the good news is there's a real attractive, hot girl in the universe; the bad news is she's your sister – I thought, 'Well, I'm going to wind up like Sir Alec. I'm going to be a lonely old hermit living out in some kind of desert igloo with a couple of robots.'"
