Stowell Gets "Whiplash" And Returns For Dolphin Tale 2

The Secret Life of the American Teenager alum Austin Stowell has 2 films in his future says THR

Whiplash is a feature-length adaptation of writer-director Damien Chazelle's Sundance Film Festival-winning short of the same name

Whiplash is centered on a talented young drummer (played by Miles Teller) who strives for perfection under the instruction of a ruthless band conductor (J.K. Simmons). Paul Reiser is also part of the cast as Teller's Dad

Stowell will play the champion drummer, the rival to Teller's character.

Michel Litvak David Lancaster and Jason Blum are producing the pic.

Stowell will also be reprising his role as Kyle Connellan in Dolphin Tale 2.

The first film is based on a true story inspired by the life of both Winter, and a new baby dolphin named Hope who was rescued by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in 2010.

Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman, Kris Kristofferson and Nathan Gamble are in talks to return for the sequel. The first film's director Charles Martin Smith will helm and write the follow-up as well.

Winter, still lives at the aquarium, played herself in the original and returns for the sequel.

Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson will produce the follow up.
