Jim Field Smith Charts "Virgins America"

She's Out of My League and Butter's Jim Field Smith has been hired to direct the comedy "Virgins America" for Paramount says Deadline

The project follows "a group of kids straddling the line between dorks and cool".

It's also a remake of the hit UK comedy franchise  The Inbetweeners. Created by Iain Morris and Damon Beesley the original series centers on four friends (Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas) who fall right in the middle of the cool and nerdy spectrum of high school popularity. A 2011 film version of the original UK show became the top-grossing comedy in U.K. history. An as yet Untitled Movie Sequel is planned for next year.

MTV's recent American small screen incarnation starring Bubba Lewis, Zack Pearlman, Joey Pollari and Mark L. Young only lasted one season

Don Granger is producing the film.

There is no word on a production schedule.
