On the stump for Friday's The World's End director Edgar Wright spoke with The Huffington Post and explained that The Avengers: Age of Ultron villain Ultron was never part of the upcoming "Ant-Man" film.
In the original comics storyline , Ultron was created by Hank Pym who becomes Ant-Man. Since "Ant-Man" film won't come out until AFTER "Avengers 2" hits theaters , many wondered where the story will go.
Wright, says that the"Ant-Man" film will focus entirely on Pym and NOT the robot:
"It was never in my script. Because even just to sort of set up what Ant-Man does is enough for one movie. It’s why I think 'Iron Man' is extremely successful because it keeps it really simple. You have one sort of — the villain comes from the hero’s technology. So I think why that film really works and why, sometimes, superhero films fail — or they have mixed results — because they have to set up a hero and a villain at the same time. And that’s really tough. And sometimes it’s unbalanced."
