Oscar winner Marion Cotillard will replace Natalie Portman as Lady Macbeth opposite Michael Fassbender in the title role in the newest film adaptation of author William Shakespeare's classic play says Screen Daily.
This "visceral" version contains major battle scenes, is set in the 11th century, and will be performed in "the original language".
Justin Kurzel ("Snowtown") helms this update from a script adaptation by Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff.
The movie will be produced by Iain Canning and Emile Sherman.
Production begins in the UK in January
It was reported in July that Nat will visit Israel to scout locations for a new film based on author Amos Oz autobiographical novel "A Tale of Love and Darkness".
Portman makes her feature directorial debut on that film in which she'll also star.
