"Kickboxer" Redux Adds More Muscle

Scott Adkins ("Zero Dark Thirty") and martial arts legend Tony Jaa have joined the cast of the 3-D remake of Jean-Claude Van Damme's 1989 action flick "Kickboxer" says Deadline.




The pair join WWE superstar Dave Bautista stunt man Alain Moussi and UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre.

The story follows David and Kurt Sloan, the descendants of a well-known Californian fighting dynasty. When David wins the Karate World Championship, a promoter lures him to Hong Kong, despite his brother's protestations that the man is a crook.When Kurt (Moussi) travels to Thailand to meet his brother, he discovers he has died at the hands of Tong Po (Bautista) and seeks his revenge.

Stephen Fung will call action on the Kickboxer update using a script by Dimitri Logothetis and Jim McGrath.

 Ted Field, Dimitri Logothetis and Nick Celozzi will produce the update.

Mark Disalle directed the original which starred Van Damme and world kickboxing champion Dennis Alexio. JCVD's  1988 film Bloodsport and the 1994 Peter Hyams’ film Timecop are getting remakes as well.
