Taylor Kitsch has reportedly been offered the lead role in the remake of the 2011 Indonesian action film
"The Raid" reports The Wrap.
The original film followed an Indonesian S.W.A.T.
team tasked with
storming a building where a violent gangster and his thugs operate
controlling the lives of innocent people. A young cop is also on a
personal mission – to rescue his drug-dealing brother from the chaos
inside.
Patrick Hughes (Red Hill, The Expendables 3) is tipped to call action while Brad Ingelsby ("Out of the Furnace") wrote the adapted script.
The Purge: Anarchy star Frank Grillo revealed in June that he has already signed on for the remake.
Real life siblings Chris Hemsworth (Rush, Thor: The Dark World) and Liam Hemsworth (The Expendables 2, The Hunger Games) were "...mentioned as possible targets for the hard-hitting action movie" at one point. Ethan Hawke, Anthony Mackie and Luke Evans have also been named as potentials
The original film's director Gareth Evans will produce the redux with Aram Tertzakian Nate Bolotin and Nick Spicer.
Production is slated to begin January 2015, the
same time "True Detective" season two wraps filming, and Kitsch's team
has been pushing HBO and creator Nic Pizzolatto hard to cast Kitsch in the
second season.
