Chris Cooper Caught "Coming Through The Rye"

Oscar winner Chris Cooper will play author J. D. Salinger in the drama "Coming Through The Rye" says THR.

The story is set in 1969 and focuses on two teenagers, Jamie (Alex Wolff) and Deedee (Stefania Owen), as they search for Salinger. Feeling a similar disconnection from the world as Holden Caulfield, Jamie believes that he’s destined to play the part of the boy and writes a play based on famed book The Catcher in the Rye.

The Wrap has learned that newcomer Zephyr Benson is set to play Gerry, brother to one of the two teens.

Emmy winner Jim Sadwith (“Sinatra”) wrote the script from which he makes his film directing debut.

The story is based on Sadwith’s actual quest. Stan Erdreich, Teddy Grennan and Sadwith are producing the film which is currently in production.
