Dan Bradley’s $75 million remake of the 1984 John Milius' cult classic focuses on a group of teenagers looking to save their town from an invasion of . Chinese and Russian soldiers.
The pic starring Chris Hemsworth, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan had been scheduled for a November 24th release this year, but with MGM's debts the company has withdrawn the project from release as it simply doesn't have the funds to market and distribute films of this size.
Fellow high-profile projects in development (Bond 23, The Hobbit: Part 1 and The Hobbit: Part 2) are on hold until the issues are resolved, and this 'Dawn' delay puts a big question mark on the January 2011 release MGM has planned for Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's "The Cabin in the Woods" (also starring Hemsworth...it's a good thing he still has Thor!!!)
Sony Pictures picked up the comedy The Zookeeper from the Lion studio and will release that, the same deal could be worked out for 'Dawn' but right now there's nothing in the works for that to happen
