John Lasseter is set to co-direct the upcoming CGI 3-D sequel Cars 2 reports Jim Hill Media.
Lasseter, who helmed the first Cars, had all but stepped aside so that Brad Lewis, who produced Ratatouille could direct the sequel.
Now it seems the pair will be working together on the project, quieting months of speculation.
"Cars 2" sees Lightning McQueen and his new crew chief Mater around the world as part of the "Race of Champions."
This is Pixar Animation Studios' first sequel outside their Toy Story franchise
