It would seem that both Tom Cruise and James McAvoy are said to be in contention for the lead for Guillermo del Toro's adaptation of the H. P. Lovecraft novella "At the Mountains of Madness" reports Collider.
While McAvoy has emerged as the studio's top choice, del Toro wants Cruise to play geologist William Dyer, the leader of a scientific expedition to Antarctica who comes upon the ruins of an ancient civilization on a huge plateau amongst gigantic mountains.
The James Cameron-produced film is not scheduled to begin production until the latter half of next year.
