Officially Joining Knight

After weeks of assuming it was a forgone conclusion we now have official word that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard have joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises via THR

Both 'Inception'.actors have been linked to the project for some time now with rumors hinting that they could be playing notable Bat-villains like Talia al Ghul, The Riddler or Alberto Falcone.

The press release outlines their quite different character descriptions. Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman).

Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.

I actually think the characters listed in the release for both actors could--could be something of a miss direct--you don't use these actors for what sounds--on the surface at least-like background players....We shall see.

Director Christopher Nolan says "When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again"

Anne Hathaway,Tom Hardy Josh Pence, and  Nestor Carbonell--back as the Mayor star along with  return of the trilogy's ensemble cast such as Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine

Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman take on secondary roles

Nolan calls action on the DKR from a screenplay he wrote with bro Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer

"The Dark Knight Rises" will be released in the summer of 2012.
