Gatsby Film Gets Its George

Former star of the short-lived TV series The Chicago Code Jason Clarke has won the coveted role of George Wilson in Baz Luhrmann‘s 3-D adaption of  The Great Gatsby says THR


Based on the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel Leo DiCaprio stars as the wealthy and mysterious Jay Gatsby who still pines for his former flame Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan).

Nick Carraway is being played by Tobey Maguire Newcomer Elizabeth Debicki is Jordan Baker and Joel Edgerton is Tom Buchanan

Wilson is the hubby to Myrtle (Isla Fisher) and pushes the story to its climax. The Aussie Clarke will also be seen in John Hillcoat‘s The Wettest County in the World in addition to The Fields, which stars Sam Worthington and Jessica Chastain.

Luhrmann adapted the Gatsby script with Craig Pearce  The trade reports Luhrmann has been looking for Australian actors to fill out the rest of the cast in order to cut costs.

Filming on the project kicks off in August.
