Blackley Leads Small Army In 300 Follow-Up

Jamie Blackley has been cast as the co-lead in 300: Battle of Artemisia says Deadline

Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad's script is based on the upcoming graphic-novel sequel by Frank Miller.

Sullivan Stapleton has won the lead role as Themosticles--the general of the Greek army. Eva Green co-stars in the role of Artemisia, the ruthless, gold-covered goddess who persuades king-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) to amass his army and helps lead the charge against the Greek forces.

Blackley will play Calisto, a teen whose desire to become the heroic man/soldier his father was leads the 16-year-old to become a leader of a small band of soldiers.

The giant battle at the center of the film is said to be happening simultaneously with the events of the original "300."

Noam Murro will call action

Mark Canton, Bernie Goldmann, Zack, and his wife Deborah Snyder and Gianni Nunnari will produce the picture.
