Robert Schwentke helmed the original Red starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Brian Cox, Karl Urban and Morgan Freeman--following over-the-hill special ops agents forced out of retirement.
It made almost $200 million worldwide.
Jon and Erich Hoeber are writng the screenplay to the follow-up. The franchise is based on Warren Ellis' three-issue comic book series.
The sequel aims to shoot later this year.
