Two feature films are using social media site Facebook and their video-on-demand portal as part of their North American release strategy reports Deadline.
2010's "Tomorrow, When the War Began", the Australian version of "Red Dawn" directed by Stuart Beattie follows eight teenagers who wage a guerrilla war against an invading foreign power in their fictional country's hometown.
"Tomorrow" will be made available to rent through Facebook via social cinema technology starting Friday February 24th, the same day it begins both a limited theatrical release and its VOD run in the United States.
The Latin American independent film studio Talleres Uchawi is making its Colombian rom-com box-office hit "Lecciones para un beso" (Lessons for a Kiss) available for online rental via Facebook as well.
Users will pay one dollar to “rent” the film which will be accessible from its fan page.
That film follows a Bogota teenager (Jose Julian Gaviria) who is forced to move to Cartagena where his mother (Cristina Umaña) decides to open a restaurant, and soon falls for a young girl (Vanessa Galvis). He enlists resturant patrons to teach him how to kiss the girl
