Liz Olsen Up For Oldboy Redux

After Rooney Mara turned down an offer to play the female lead--renamed Marie-in the remake of Chan-wook Park's 2003 cult classic "Old Boy, Elizabeth Olsen is in talks to take the role says Heat Vision.


The older film centered on a man kidnapped and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path of revenge.

Mark Protosevich wrote the adapted screenplay from which Spike Lee is calling action.

Josh Brolin has already been cast in the lead.

Olsen has the offer to play the part of the caseworker who helps investigate the past of Brolin's character.

Doug Davison and Roy Lee will produce.

The pic was due to go into production this month but was pushed back to late summer/early fall to accomodate Brolin's press commitments for "Men In Black 3" hitting on May 25th 2012.
