Bale Jumps Into The Furnace

He's been circling the pic for a while--and now Christian Bale is indeed locked for the lead in Scott Cooper's Out Of The Furnace, aka The Low Dweller according to The Playlist,


The story is based on a spec script by Brad Ingelsby and centers on Slim (Bale), an Indiana native who has just been freed from prison in 1986. Although he initially has plans to marry his girlfriend, Slim's brother is soon found to be murdered after falling in with a dangerous gambling racket. This eventually leads to Slim's quest for revenge.

Robert Duvall, is the top contender to play the hero’s uncle, while Viggo Mortensen is being mentioned for the bad guy...Meantime Channing Tatum Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, and Casey Affleck are being mentioned as candidates to play Bale‘s brother according to Variety

Back in 2008 the script was highly sought after attracting directors like Rupert Sanders and Ridley Scott as well as actor Mark Wahlberg.

Scott. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran will produce, with Brooklyn Weaver is executive producing.
