Stand Alone Star Wars Films There Will Be...

It started with chatter last month that director Zack Snyder was developing another Star Wars film to take place in the expanded universe that would run concurrent with "Star Wars: Episode VII" at Disney/Lucasfilm.

The rumor was quickly shot down.

Fast forward--AICN posted a rumor claiming that the first of such a stand alone films would center on Yoda...

Late today Mouse House suit Bob Iger did confirm that new trilogy writers Lawrence Kasdan ("The Empire Strikes Back," "Raiders of the Lost Ark") and Simon Kinberg ("Sherlock Holmes," "X-Men: Days of Future Past") were indeed developing stand alone SW features.

As  J.J. Abrams gears up to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII" with a script from Oscar winner Michael Arndt ("Toy Story 3," "Little Miss Sunshine")  Iger told CNBC that Kasdan and Kinberg are "working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga, so we still plan to make Star Wars VII, VIII and IX roughly over a six-year period of time starting in 2015. But there are going to be a few other films released in that period of time, too."

Might these spinoff pics include one for a young Han Solo, Boba Fett?...hmmm.
