Woodley Set To See "Stars"

"The Descendants" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-star Shailene Woodley is all but confirmed for the lead role of in the film adaptation of author John Green's young adult novel The Fault in Our Stars.


The story follows Hazel (Woodley) a sixteen-year-old cancer patient, who is forced by her parents to attend a support group. She soon meets and falls in love with seventeen-year-old Augustus Waters, an ex-basketball player and amputee.

Filmmaker Josh Boone, whose film Stuck In Love made a splash at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, has the job of directing the film.

During our exhaustive search to find Hazel Grace Lancaster, I saw some stunning auditions by today’s finest young actresses,” Boone told EW .

Over 250 girls read for the part, but it wasn’t until Shailene stepped in front of the camera that I truly saw Hazel for the first time. It was like lightning striking. I can’t wait for the rest of the world to see what I have.

Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will produce the pic.

Production hopes to start by the end of the year.
