Spader, Others Join "The Homesman"

Three-time Emmy winner James Spader will reunite with his Lincoln co-star Tommy Lee Jones for another movie set in mid-19th century America, The Homesman. says THR


Set in Nebraska, the story centers on a tough woman (Meryl Streep) tasked with transporting three mentally ill women to an asylum in Iowa. She employs the help of a reluctant claim jumper (Jones) who takes on the responsibility to bring the women to safety when Streep's character commits suicide.

Spader will play a swindler

Hilary Swank plays a spinster school teacher. Danish actor David Dencik will play »the sexually brutish husband of one of the women. Miranda Otto will play one of the mentally ill women who left her newborn baby in the cold to die. John Lithgow and Tim Blake Nelson also star.

Jones, who is also directing--co-wrote the script with Kieran Fitzgerald and Wesley A. Oliver.

Peter Brant, Michael Fitzgerald and Jones will produce the film
