The story follows a young man Mykola (Barnard) in growing up in rural Ukraine who finds his life changed forever by the invasion of the Red Army and the subsequent persecution of his fellow countrymen as Joseph Stalin's regime extends into Eastern Europe.
Ben Kingsley, Terence Stamp, Max Irons and Samantha Barks also stars
Richard Bachynsky Hoover wrote the script from which George Mendeluk's calling action.
Production is currently underway in Romania and Ukraine.
