X-Men Movies: Channing Tatum Offers Solo Gambit Film Update

Out doing press for this weekend's animated film The Book Of Life star Channing Tatum gave  MTV an update on the solo film featuring  X-Men's mutant Gambit:

"We're finding a writer and sort of beating it out. We really do want to try our hardest to give something fresh. We're obviously going to go to the saving the world superhero movies eventually, but not for the first one. We kind of want to introduce this character in a very different way, and when you try to do something different, you never know, right off the bat, what that is. It takes a little time to get it right. We're really just feeling our way, and we have to prove that concept of that person."

Friday Night Lights and  "John Carter" star Taylor Kitsch played the character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"

Fox had locked down an untitled Marvel film project for July 18th 2018, which could be the potential slot for a "Gambit" centered film should it go forward?

it's likely that Tatum is going to play Remy LeBeau in the next chapter in the film series "X-Men: Apocalypse"... but that has not been confirmed yet

"Apocalypse" will hit theaters on May 27, 2016 opposite Alice in Wonderland 2
