Tony and Olivier award-winning actor Mark Rylance has been cast as the benevolent giant title character in the live-action film adaptation
of author Roald Dahl's 1982 children's book "The Bfg" says Variety.
The story
follows a young girl, the Queen of England and the BFG, who set out on
an adventure to capture the evil, man-eating giants who have been
invading the human world.
Melissa Mathison ( E.T.), wrote the adapted screenplay from which Steven Spielberg will direct.
Frank Marshall will produce the pic.
Spielberg will shoot the
project in early 2015 ahead of a July 1st 2016 release.
Rylance is
currently working with Spielberg on the Cold War spy
thriller "St. James Place".
