"Source Code" Gets A Sequel

Variety reports that Roland Emmerich's regular cinematographer Anna Foerster has signed on to direct a sequel to Duncan Jones' 2011 science fiction thriller "Source Code".

The original film centers on Captain Colter Stevens, (Jake Gyllenhaal) a helicopter pilot in Afghanistan, who wakes up in the body of a man he doesn’t recognize on a commuter train to Chicago. Before he can comprehend anything, a bomb goes off, killing him and everyone on the train. He then awakens in some kind of chamber, where he is told he is inside the ‘Source Code’, and has to go back and relive the last eight minutes continuously until he finds and identifies the bomber, so that another terrorist act can be prevented.

Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright also starred in the pic--no actor is attached to the sequel at this point The first film's scribe Ben Ripley is back to pen the new film though.

Mark Gordon and Philippe Rousselet will produce.

I loved the first one--it's gonna be hard to beat.
