Bad Feelings

"The best actor to ever perform on film", Nicolas Cage will star in a remake of the 1992 cult classic Bad Lieutenant according to Variety

The original film centered on a depraved, gambling and drug-addicted NYPD cop (Harvey Keitel) who craves power. His investigation of the rape of a nun forces him to confront his inner demons.

It was one of the first and most notable film's get an NC-17 rating. The new version will be set in a modern post-9/11 environment and the hardcore sex and drug elements will not be toned down at all.

Werner Herzog will call action for the update from a script by William M. Finkelstein

If the screenplay is written with the cop using broad posturing then Cage is perfect for it---or if the chatacter has a monotone delivery--he's still OK..But if he's nuanced then the retread is flawed.

Production begins in late summer.
