John Cusack (pictured) and Chiwetel Ejiofor are in talks to star in 2012 reports Variety
The Roland Emmerich directed disaster film centers on a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells the heroic struggle of the survivors.
Cusack would play Jackson Curtis a divorced dad, writer and sometime limo driver, who tries to save his family.
Ejiofor plays Adrian Helmsley, an idealistic science adviser to the president during the crisis.
Emmerich co-authored the script with his "10000 BC" collaborator Harald Kloser.
As a Cusack fan-I like the idea of him doing an action flick--I just wish the part didn't sound so derivative of the one in War of the Worlds that Tom Cruise played in '05
Shooting begins in Los Angeles in July of this year for release on July 10th of next year.
