Warner Bros.. has landed an option to remake the French comedy "Welcome to the Sticks" (Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis)...Actor Will Smith's production co. Overbrook Entertainment is gonna make the US version reports Variety
The original "Sticks," stars Kad Merad and director/co-writer Dany Boon and follows a postal employee from the sunny south of France who gets an unwanted transfer to the rain-soaked north, known as "the sticks," where he eventually is won over by the locals' warm-hearted ways and impenetrable dialect.
The film opened in France in February, and has since grossed an impressive $190 million to become the second highest-grossing movie ever released in that country behind a little flick called Titanic.
I suspect that Smith will be working in front of the camera on this at some point...
