Flash In The Pan

Staying in remake mode...

Sony Pictures is pushing hard to acquire the film rights for a new big-screen adaptation of the "Flash Gordon universe reports the trades. Variety...

Flash is a sports hero who accidently travels to the planet Mongo with his lady love, Dale Arden, and scientist Dr. Hans Zarkov. There, they discover a world ruled by Ming the Merciless.

Originally a science fiction newspaper comic strip in the 1930s, it was first adapted for the screen as very popular movie serials...

The 1980 film (pictured) was a total flop at first-but has since become a cult hit to many--myself included-, thanks to a well-known theme song by the band Queen-among other fun reasons.

A SCIFI.Channel TV series debuted to much fanfare last year but thanks to drew poor reviews and low ratings, the show was cancelled.

Film director Stephen Sommers tried to mount another film four years ago, but it fell apart.

Breck Eisner will call action on the latest incarnation as soon as he finishes the Creature from the Black Lagoon remake The search for Flash scribes is underway...
