Offer Accepted

It's official Jake Gyllenhaal is set for the lead role in the feature "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" says Variety

He will be joined by actress Gemma Arterton as his leading lady

In the fantasy adventure, based on the Ubisoft video game--Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Rumors of Gyllenhaal's possible involvement first showed up at Latino Review last month but many had wondered whether Gyllenhaal will have time to get ready for the grueling physical production due to a leg injury in March.

It's about time Gyllenhaal landed a potential franchise...I just thought with the ankle issue it would have been based in a comic book further down the road.

Mike Newell is sitting in the big chair and production is set to start in July.
