The Big Picture

The AP reports that Sony Pictures and Sony Music have officially obtained the worldwide rights to produce and distribute that documentary on Michael Jackson's final concert tour.

This Is It will use rehearsal and behind-the-scenes footage shot while Jackson prepared to perform 50 concerts in London.

"High School Musical" helmer Kenny Ortega, directs the film using the Hi-Def material shot in June weeks before the singer died .

Sony is paying concert promoter AEG Live and Jackson's estate $60 million for the footage.

Some sequences will be offered in 3-D with an October 30th worldwide release date....

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff approved the deal Friday and announced his ruling Monday during a hearing. Jackson's mom Katherine was given the opportunity to review the contracts and raise any objections, she declined to do so.

Under the terms of the agreement, the film will be screened for Jackson's estate and cannot include any footage that puts the superstar in a bad light.

An easy prediction: the film will be the top grossing docu of all time...
