The Hollywood Reporter says that a biopic on President Ronald Reagan is on the way.
Jonas McCord ("Malice," "The Body") is writing the script for "Reagan" which begins with his 1981 assassination attempt and follows his story through both flashbacks and flash-forwards that will show how the once Hollywood actor became the leader of the free world.
Paul Kengor's two best-selling biographies--A Spiritual Life and The Fall of Communism will be used as the basis for the script.
Ralph Winter and Mark Joseph will produce.
No actors or director have been signed a yet, though final financing is being locked down now with a late 2011 release planned.
The TV mini-series "The Reagans" in 2003 was set o air on broadcast, but controversy over its seeming left-wing bias pushed it to air on cable instead with James Brolin as Reagan.
Can Hollywood make an honest biopic about Reagan without controversy?
