“Underworld 4” Begins Production, Announces New Cast Members

Before Twilight came along, the Underworld film series garnered a loyal following without strong support from film critics. Now it’s time for a fourth installment in the series.

Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems issued a press release that stated the beginning of production and revealed details about the film. Dark Horizons reports that Kate Beckinsale’s character Selene "escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species."

We’ve also learned that Michael Ealy (For Colored Girls, Takers) and India Eisley will play new characters Detective Sebastian and Eve, respectively. No surprise, this film will be in 3D; it arrives in theaters next January.

It’s been a while since the last film in the Underworld series hit theaters, so it makes sense that there’d be an official press release to build momentum for this upcoming sequel. The casting of Ealy is inspiring, and I’m curious about Eisley.

How do you feel about this new Underworld information?
