From Footloose to Lord Of The Jungle?
Craig Brewer will write and direct a new film adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' character "Tarzan" says Variety.
In the pipeline now for eight years. John August was originally hired to pen a script in 2003. Then in 2006, Guillermo del Toro ("Hellboy") was in negotiations to direct and two years later Stephen Sommers ("The Mummy") was in talks to direct a co-write a version with his G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra scribe Stuart Beattie.
Deadline adds Brewer's version apparently tells the Tarzan story over a trilogy of films and he hopes the first one will be his next gig
Jerry Weintraub is producing the project.
Wonder if Brewer will ask the new Ren in Footloose Kenny Wormald (pictured) if he'd like to swing instead of dance?
