Paramount Backs DA's Noah

Paramount and New Regency Enterprises will back Darren Aronofsky's "gritty" take on the biblical tale of "Noah" says THR


Summit Entertainment, and Fox were also in the running as well

Aronofsky & Ari Handel. wrote the script for "Noah," but they have now handed re-writing duties to John Logan (The Last Samurai, Gladiator).

Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family's journey," Aronofsky said in a statement. "The imaginations of countless generations have sparked to this epic story of faith. It's my hope that I can present a window into Noah's passion and perseverance for the silver screen."

Deadline reports that Paramount agreed to front half of the $130 million production costs which New Regency had previously agreed to co-finance their $75 million half in the summer

Noah’s is now set to go before camera’s in the Spring Now the question is--Will Christian Bale jump on board as Aronofsky's first choice for the lead?

Aronofsky and Scott Franklin will produce the movie.
