Al Pacino Is Despicable Me 2 Bad Guy

Al Pacino will make his animated film debut as the voice of the villain in "Despicable Me 2" says Deadline.

Pacino takes over for Javier Bardem in the role of  El Macho

Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud will direct the sequel from a script by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul.

Steve Carell will return to voice Gru, with Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove and Julie Andrews expected to reprise their roles from Despicable Me.

The sequel is due to hit theaters on July 3, 2013.
