A film version of author Karen-Thompson-Walker's first novel "The Age of Miracles" is in the works according to Deadline.
The story is both a young girl's coming of age tale and a poignant family drama set against the catastrophe that occurs after the Earth’s rotation inexplicably slows.
"Hanna" scribe Seth Lochhead will write the adapted script
Bill Pohlad ("The Tree of Life") will produce the pic.
The book hits retail on June 26th 2012

The beauty in this story is that no matter how bad it gets -it gets really bad by the end--Julia and her parents and neighbors and schoolmates live lives that never become wholly un-normal, Normal acts must go on. Age-old concerns still matter.
At the beginning of the review, I commented on the quality of the writing in this book. There is a poetic quality in Julia's narration as she reports what is happening around her, both in her micro-life and in the macro-world around her. Sentences like this one amaze me: "Every morning officials announced the minutes gained overnight, like raindrops collected in pans."
